European Salary Calculator
Your net income, income tax, social security and employer cost in 15 countries — employees and freelancers, 2026 tax rules.
What the calculator works out
Most salary calculators stop at income tax. A pay slip does not. Every calculation here separates the four things that actually decide what reaches your account, and shows each one on its own rather than folding them into a single “tax” figure.
- Income tax — computed on that country's own brackets, allowances and credits, including the family and age-based reliefs where they exist.
- Employee social security — each contribution named separately, with the ceiling that caps it, because a contribution ceiling that quietly goes a year out of date is the error that hides best.
- Employer cost — the total your employer pays to put you on the payroll, which is the figure that matters when you are negotiating or pricing a role.
- Net pay, annual and monthly — spread over the number of instalments that country really pays, so a 14-salary country is not silently divided by twelve.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the salary calculator free?
- Yes. Every calculation on this site is free and needs no account or sign-up. Programmatic access for your own software is the paid part — that is the developer API.
- Which countries does it cover?
- 15 European countries: Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, France, Poland, Malta, Cyprus, Czechia. Each one is calculated from that country's own 2026 rules rather than an average or an approximation.
- Does it show what I cost my employer?
- Yes. Employer social-security contributions are calculated separately from your own deductions, so you see three figures: what the employer pays in total, what you are paid gross, and what reaches your account.
- Can it calculate freelancer or self-employed income?
- Yes. Switch the work type to freelancer to model revenue and deductible expenses, the self-employed social-security regime, and — where a country offers one — a simplified or lump-sum tax option.
- Which tax year are the figures for?
- 2026. Every country's brackets, ceilings and contribution rates were verified line by line against the statute or the tax authority's own circular, and the sources are published on the methodology page.
- Can I get these calculations inside my own product?
- Yes. The same engine is available as a REST API, including net-to-gross (give it the net you want someone to receive and it returns the gross and the full employer cost), multi-country comparison and batch calculation.
